On a cold and snowy night at the home of the 2010 World Games "The Firs" - English Knights had a great opportunity to play Canadian opposition in our own back yard! we had a mix of 2011 and 2013 knights players on the roster that we hoped could test the Canucks!
It was great to see everyone out supporting the team and was especially great to see the 2011 parents again!
Thanks to Simon Smith for the photographs!
Knights fought hard through-out the game in a tough battle with a very skilled Canadian team, The Knights Defence was very tough to beat and made it hard for them to make finishes inside, Mike Connor was solid in goal in the and William Baxter started the second half in much the same way, until he had to leave the game with a broken thumb!
The Eng Knights won a lot of possession from the face-off via Tim Collins, Elliott Condren and Jay Moore but in the whole made toomany mental mistakes to win the game.
The offence made a lot for opportunities for themselves but just couldn’t finish it off, the Oshawa Keeper had a great game and made it hard for us to finish! The Eng Knights rode hard and caused a lot of turnovers to gain more possessions for the team, we made a late run but in chasing the game gave away an easy goal for Oshawa which made it a bridge too far for the English lads, the game finished 8-6 to the Canadians.
It was great to get out there and see what we have to do to become an Elite Squad before our US tour this year, we learnt a lot about ourselves and learnt some valuable lessons!
